Global guidance
Interested in developing an INFF? Start with the INFF building blocks.
Guidance on developing an INFFs highlights four key building blocks. Each building block represents a component in building national capacity to strategically plan, mobilise and manage the financing needed for sustainable development results. INFFs are iterative processes, with each building block reinforcing the others.
The Inter-agency Task Force on Financing for Development has developed guidance materials for each building block and an inception phase to support countries interested in developing and implementing INFFs. Based on country experiences, these materials are ‘living’ documents that will be continually updated and strengthened as more countries develop and implement INFFs.

Thematic guidance
In response to the interest from countries for thematic guidance on the design and delivery of INFFs for particular priorities and in specific contexts, additional guidance documents have been developed, building on the core technical guidance above.
The thematic guidance documents are tailored to specific country contexts, SDG sectors, and financing policy areas, all benefiting from country insights and experiences. These documents can assist policymakers in addressing challenges and opportunities specific to certain sectors and country circumstances, strengthening policymaking to finance the national sustainable development objectives and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the INFFs.
The thematic guidance documents strengthen the feedback loop between country-level implementation on the one hand, and core technical guidance work and technical assistance and capacity development efforts on the other. The documents will continue to be living documents, and will be updated as country experience, insight, and learning about the application of the INFF approach to the challenges of financing the SDGs at the country level keeps progressing.
