2021 hasbeen a year of momentum forINFFs. Over 50 countries kicked off their INFFprocesses, bringing the total number of countries developing INFFs to more than70.

In April, theUnited Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Department ofEconomic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and the European Union (EU) celebrated the launchof the INFF Knowledge Platform and shared earlyexperiences from INFF implementation on thesidelines of the 2021 Financing for Development Forum.

The first halfof the year also saw the publishing of technical guidance for the INFF buildingblocks, which further defined INFF approaches and explored the different waysthe INFF methodology is being applied in pioneer countries.

At the sametime, the persistent threat of Covid-19 has underscored the need for developedand developing countries alike to come up with innovative ways to finance recoveryplans and align stimulus withlonger-term development goals.

The result ofthis momentum has been a steady growth in international attention andenthusiasm for INFFs. And a lot of activity! To help keep track of INFFprogress worldwide, we put out a survey to 71 countries pursuing an INFF.
