This beginner-friendly e-learning course delivers a comprehensive overview of INFFs in seven concise lessons.

In this course, you will explore what an INFF can achieve, how to implement it using the INFF building blocks, and the key actors involved. The course covers the unique value of adopting an INFF, features insights from countries that have benefited from their INFF processes, and shares key lessons and best practices. It concludes with guidance on applying these lessons in your national context.
The course takes around 2-2.5 hours to complete and a certificate will be issued upon completion.
This course was developed by the INFF Facility with financial support from the European Union and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).

This course is designed for technical government staff, international organizations, and development partners working on INFFs. It draws on INFF guidance and country examples to help learners apply theory to practice.
Through six modules, you’ll explore each INFF building block with practical tips for your INFF journey:
- Inception Phase: Learn to establish a baseline and create buy-in for INFF development.
- Building Block 1: Assessment and Diagnostics: Assess financing gaps and identify opportunities, challenges, and risks in your country’s financing landscape.
- Building Block 2: Financing Strategy: Formulate a coherent, sustainable, and risk-informed financing strategy.
- Building Block 3: Monitoring and Review: Understand the importance of monitoring and review, and explore suitable systems for your context.
- Building Block 4: Governance and Coordination: Learn the role of governance and coordination, identifying relevant institutions and processes.

This course focuses on financing Nationally Determined Contributions and climate objectives through INFFs, combining global guidance and country examples to help learners apply theory to practice.
In five lessons, you’ll explore the practical use of INFFs to finance national climate goals:
- Lesson 1: Understand the purpose of climate financing, its policy relevance, and the interconnection of INFF building blocks.
- Lesson 2: Explore the state of climate finance, gaps, challenges, and how INFFs can support climate goals.
- Lesson 3: Learn to apply INFF building blocks to assess policy options and principles for a climate finance strategy.
- Knowledge Check: Test your understanding with scenario-based questions.
